Declaration of War

This is my Declaration of War.

This is what Drop of Change stands against.

This is no get rich quick site. I will not feed you magic bullets to turn your shitty day job into a 6-figure income overnight that runs itself – that doesn’t happen.  If it did I’m sure I’d be making 6-figures by now because I’ve had a lot of overnights.

This is not a self-help site. I will not feed you the end-all-cure to your personal issues.  Resolving your issues (cause we all have them) is a process that we have to work through ourselves with the help of our peers and friends.

This is not the path to enlightenment. I am not a guru and you shouldn’t treat me as such.  I am not a spiritual leader.  I have not been awakened.  I cannot show you the way because my way is not your way.

This is not a place for complacency. I will not stand for settling for what is here if what I want is out there.  I won’t tell you to just roll over and take it and if you do, I don’t want to hear about it.

This is not a place for the willingly ignorant. If you aren’t willing to listen and question, stop reading and close the window.  Ignorance does enough damage in the world and I won’t have it here.

This is not a place for tradition for traditions sake. I don’t do things the way they’ve always been done just because that’s the way they’ve always been done.  I will honor history and tradition by creating out of it or in inspiration from it.

This is not a place for objectification. People and the world are not means to an end.  They are to be respected and treated with compassion and kindness.  If you want to use people and this planet just to get ahead there is no place for you here.

This is not a place for excuses. Apologies are accepted.  Excuses are what get you shown to the exit.

This is not a place for continual excess. Enjoying the pleasures of life is a large part of it, but it is not the end of our existence.  If you’re here to find a way to live in complete hedonism, find the little x and close the window.

This is not a place for blind faith. I want you to question – me, yourself, others, establishments.

This is not a place to bury your head in the sand. Don’t come here and read it to live vicariously through me or anyone else.  If you aren’t willing to live the life you really want, don’t waste my time by pretending to live mine or someone else’s.

This is not a place for mindless activity. I won’t drone on about the latest widget or inane time-waster on the web.  If you aren’t willing to give your attention and focus to the things that you do what do you even get out of reading this?

This is not a use and lose it way of life. It is about living in a way that can create a sustainable cycle of meaningful activity without leaving a trail of excess and refuse in your wake.

This is not a place for just you. The world, especially the social world, is deeply interconnected and if you are only in it for yourself you have no place in my tribe.  It is about living in a community that supports each other even through competition but not utter dominance.

This is not a place for just me. I am not here to glorify myself.  I am here to help others find their own path – to live curious, sustainable and mindful lives of their choosing.  This is for you as much as it is for me.
