It’s Not About What You Have, It’s About What You Have Given Up

Life isn’t just the sum of the things you have accumulated.

Life is an accumulation of the things you have given up and left behind.

You have acquired a degree, a car, a house, an apartment.

You have taken vacations, road trips, flights.

You have become older, wiser, educated.

You have acquired a computer, a cell phone, art.

You have taken classes, workshops, seminars.

You have become judging, savvy, critical.

You have acquired status, money, prestige.

You have taken drugs, alcohol, cigarettes.

You have become jaded, fearful, chained.

You have acquired things.

You have taken it as it was given.

You have become complacent.

You have left behind childhood, fancies, playfulness, imagination.

You have given up on relationships, jobs, education, people.

You have left behind thousands of pounds of trash, waste.

You have given up on saving the world, righting wrongs.

You have left behind wonder.

You have given up on surprise.

You have left behind spontaneity.

You have given up on little things.

You have left behind dreams.

You have given up hope.

Are those all of the things you have left behind and given up?

Are you willing to reclaim the childish, the curious, the playful?

Are the things you have worth more than the things you have left behind?
